Workstations, servers, and everything attached.
The clinic's hardware should be invisible when it works and clearly tracked when it does not.
Hardware should be planned, not reactive.
Clinics that buy workstations as they fail end up with a different model in every room, different drivers for every scanner, and no clear retirement plan. We track what hardware exists, what its warranty status is, and when it should be replaced. Replacements are scheduled before failures, not after.
For servers, the planning horizon is longer. A new server gets sized to last five years, on warranty for that period, with a replacement plan documented before the warranty ends. EMR-aware sizing means the SQL database, file storage, and backup all have what they need on day one.
